How does it work?
  • You are paired with an experienced teacher of record who will lead the class that you are a resident in.
  • You assume classroom responsibilities gradually with the support of your mentor teacher (learn before doing).
  • You are expected to complete additional coursework.
  • You are the teacher of record.
  • You are leading the classroom with limited support (learn by doing).
  • You are expected to complete additional coursework.
Do I get paid?
  • You earn a living stipend from the credential program (varies depending on the program).
  • In most teacher residency programs, you aren’t in the classroom 5 days/week so you can substitute teach or work at another part-time job.
  • You are paid a salary with benefits by your school employer.
